Description:

The Higgins Block was designated as a historical property for its commercial Italianate architecture and its importance in the development of business in Moncton. This imposing 3-story structure on the corner of Main and Botsford Streets remains a predominant feature of Moncton’s downtown streetscape. The scope of work was primarily focused on the 2nd and 3rd floor which had been unoccupied for a lengthy period while the 1st floor consisted of several restaurants. The primary goal of the renovations was to provide future commercial space for rentals on the second and 3rd floor while upgrading the building and maintaining its historical architectural components. The base building upgrades included, a new roof, installation of new windows on the 2nd and 3rd floors, new ventilation systems, new elevator shaft, new stairs, new vestibule, washrooms, and structural improvements.
